Step 3 - Purchasing Stocks

Now that you have decided what companies to invest in, it is now time to purchase your stocks. We will be using the Investopedia online simulator. You will need to complete the following steps:

1. Create an account.

2. You will be provided some free offers, which you can all decline if you wish. Some of them are investing newsletters and search engines, which might be of some interest to you.

3. Search for our class investment game. Click on this link to search for your class name. Your instructor will provide the game name and password, if applicable.

4. After you have joined your class game, begin trading stock. To calculate the number of shares you would like to purchase, divide the amount you want to invest by the current price per share.

5. If you are confused by the different types of transactions, you will primarily be using "market orders." You can read more about the other types of transactions. You are free to use other forms of investing, but remember you can't use more than 10% of the client's funds in non-market orders. Furthermore, you should note that if you use "stop" or "limit" orders to protect your investment, they must be done
